Dermal Fillers
What are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers are products that can be injected just below the surface of the skin and in the tissue to lift, fill in lines, wrinkles, folds, and correct scars and/or add volume.
Dermal fillers are injected under the skin to restore volume or fill lines around the face, giving a more youthful or enhanced look. They do not require general anesthetics, and leave no stitches or scars – and even better, there is little to no downtime.
Fillers have evolved and improved enormously since they were first introduced. We no longer use bovine collagen, but hyaluronic acid which occurs naturally in the skin.
The following areas of the face can be treated with fillers:
- Frown lines
- Droopy mouth corners
Lipstick Lines
- Nasolabial folds and smile lines
- Marionette lines
- Defining the jaw line
- Defining the chin & filling a deep chin crease
Dermal Fillers
After the age of 25 the initial signs of ageing become apparent on the surface of the skin. Fine lines appear first, and over time wrinkles, a loss of volume and a loss of density become noticeable – that full-faced, youthful appearance gradually disappears.
This is partly due to intrinsic ageing which is the natural part of the ageing process where our skin produces less collagen (which provides skin firmness) in each year and as a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile. And partly as a result of extrinsic aging which takes place in addition to intrinsic aging as a result of environmental factors including exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, smoking, alcohol, stress and lack of sleep.
Dermal fillers are one of the most popular facial rejuvenation treatments that we offer. It is highly effective anti-ageing treatment with instant results and virtually no down-time. We use hyaluronic acid dermal filler to enhance the cheeks, the tear trough area below the eye and the folds and lines between the nose and mouth and to naturally augment the lips.
The most commonly used dermal fillers are Hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in your body. In its treatment form it is a gel-like solution that is injected into the skin. When this gel-like solution is injected, it acts like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues and brings water to the surface of the skin to keep it.
Cheek & Chin Enhancement
This treatment is a highly effective way to rejuvenate the face and restore symmetry without resorting to surgery.
Fine cheekbones and chin are an essential element of facial beauty. Well-defined cheeks and chin establish balance, boost the confidence, and are a symbol of youth. Some men and women are disheartened because their cheeks and chin have never been well-contoured, while many others have lost facial volume with age and would like to revitalize fullness for a more youthful appearance.
The good news is that dermal fillers such as Juvéderm VOLUMA®, Restylane Volume® and Teosyal® RHA products provides deep dermal support required to restore skin volume and give youthful appearance and contour to the face. These dermal fillers are suitable for a wide range of clients seeking to improve their facial shape and definition without undergoing invasive surgery or having permanent implants.
Lip Enhancement
As we age lips gradually lose volume, become smaller and can develop fine lines around their borders. The cupids bow can become levelled and the corners of the mouth may turn downward, producing a tired, aged appearance. Lip fillers is a great treatment for adding or restoring volume, and giving fullness and balance to your lips.
We use hyaluronic acid fillers that are specifically produced to restore natural fullness and create beautifully shaped lips. The treatment itself if quick which is lasting approximately 30 minutes. Small amount of hyaluronic acid with lidocaine carefully injected into your lips increases the size and creates more definition. The lip injections show results quickly, within 48 hours, and are an effective solution.
Nasolabial Folds
Nasolabial folds (also known as smile lines) are the lines from the lower nose corner of the mouth. Nasolabial folds become more noticeable as part of the natural ageing process. Loss of fat from the cheeks reduces skin volume and makes nasolabial folds appear deeper. Repeating smiling my result in permanent, deep lines in this area. Many patients feel uneasy about the appearance of their nasolabial folds and this concern intensifies over time.
Dermal filler can be used to lift and treat the nasolabial folds, which occur with ageing and volume loss in the cheek area. It is very easy to fill a nasolabial fold and the patient does appear younger after this treatment is performed. However, if that person has volume loss (which they invariably do) then filling the nasolabial fold is not recreating this person to look like their younger self. As it is just filling in a fold. In this circumstance, our recommendation is to treat cheeks if there is a volume loss in order to obtain the best results.
Marionette Lines
Even if you have never heard of marionette lines, you likely to know what they are. Marionette lines are the lines on the lateral side of your lower lip, and usually start at the mouth corners and go downwards ending at the jawline.
Marionette lines become more noticeable as part of the natural ageing process, often making a person look sad or negative. By filling these areas, the person will instantly feel rejuvenated, happier and more positive.
Dermal filler treatment is a simple and effective way to treat the marionettes lines.
Generally, the small amount of filler injected into the affected area once a month, until both physician and patient satisfied with the appearance. Refills are then spaced out over longer periods – every 6-9 month.
